Position Specific Description This position sits within the Power Generation Division which is responsible for all of NextEra Energy's non-nuclear generation operations, exceeding 40,000 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity. This position will be based out of Northern NY and the incoming employee will need to live in or relocate to the Syracuse area. The position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of solar PV collection assemblies, battery energy storage, AC/DC inverters on multiple solar power plants to achieve safe, efficient, and environmentally sound plant operations. Provides inspection of watch, electrical, mechanical, and electronic trouble shooting for a solar arrays and inverters. Position Specific Description NextEra Energy is seeking a technical individual to be part of the Power Generation team. This position will be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of Distributed Generation Solar and/or Battery facilities in New York. This position will be based out of the Watertown-Syracuse, NY area, and will cover 5 sites between Niagara and Clayton, NY. This individual is responsible as the site safety manager to ensure all personnel and equipment onsite are safe and that the site/s are in environmental compliance with all required regulatory permit requirements. Under limited guidance, the individual will perform a variety of routine tasks, which provide experience and familiarity with Engineering staff, methods, practices, and programs after which may independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures while using judgment when making adaptions and modifications. Routine tasks include executing inspections of watch, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, contractor and OEM coordination, root cause analysis, and duties as assigned. Engineers on the solar team will spend a significant amount of time in the field (outside) troubleshooting and repairing all aspects of our solar facilities . At times, Sr PGD Engineer will be on-call and responsible for the sites in the region, coordinating with the Renewables Operation Control Center, OEM's, Vendors and Contractors as required. Working weekends and nights outages is required at times. Engineer should be highly motivated with a strong bias for action and capable of working independently as well as part of a team. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering highly preferred. Previous PV solar and Battery experience highly desired.
